? A nylon coating provides steel wire with a protection that prevents damage when the wire touches delicate surfaces. It also allows a steel wire to be coloured white or black. However, due to this coating, cable grippers will have less grip. This reduces the maximum load by 30% compared to uncoated steel wire.
